Our Reno girls cycling camp is moving along nicely! The girls are soaking up the information like sponges, and this week they teamed up to create very challenging obstacle courses for each other. This exercise not only helps the girls with bike handling, they have to work in a team atmosphere with a team leader giving directions on which obstacles to build and how to build them. The girls learn valuable life skills like giving clear directions and being a good team member. The drills will continue over the coming weeks with each girl having the opportunity to lead a team.
We finished the day with some math, including a challenge to calculate the average speed of our record-setting Bike Like A Girl 2015 Race Across America 8-woman team. How fast did they go if they covered 3000 miles in 6 days in 12 hours? Super fast, especially when you factor in elevation gains in the Rocky Mountains and headwinds across the Midwest.
We'll be rolling out more camps soon, including summer three-day camps in the Truckee/Tahoe area, and eight to ten week Fall camps in Roseville-Granite Bay, CA and Reno, NV . Stay tuned by liking Bike Like A Girl on FB, and visit our website at www.bikelikeagirl.org.
