Lake Tahoe's All Women's Sports Camp

I am excited to once again coach at the Lake Tahoe's All Women's Sports Camp, August 11-12 at Northstar Resort in Truckee. Last year's  inaugural camp was an amazing experience for participants and coaches - all learning from and empowering each other. My role this year, as last year, is head cycling coach. The Saturday session will be focused on the beginner rider, and the Sunday session will focus on the advanced rider. My two day sessions outlined below. Come out and play.

Beginner Rider Session
Off-the-bike chalk-talk on importance of proper bike fit and pillar strength for solid posture resulting in improved performance and comfort, as well as a discussion on efficient pedaling technique.

On-the-bike session will focus on finding proper posture; bike handling skills including shifting, cornering, descending and riding in a group; perfecting the pedal technique; experimenting with revolutions per minute (rpm); and climbing technique in and out of the saddle.

Ride route –ride from Northstar through Truckee and lap around Donner Lake. Return back through Truckee to Northstar.

Advanced Rider Session

Off-the-bike chalk-talk on importance of proper bike fit and pillar strength for solid posture resulting in improved performance and comfort, as well as a discussion on efficient pedaling technique.
On-the-bike session will focus on perfecting climbing technique. Warm-up will include single leg pedaling drills to provide feedback on pedaling strengths and weaknesses. Ride to the base of Old Hwy 40. The workout will take place on Old Hwy 40 ascending to Donner Summit. In the workout participants will perform a series of intervals ranging 4-6 min depending on the participants' abilities. Each interval will have a specific focus. Participants will explore climbing technique including in the saddle, out of the saddle; when and why to combine these two techniques; as well as high cadence vs low cadence pedaling. By experimenting with extremes, the workout will provide participants with the opportunity to determine which techniques suit their individual strengths and pedaling styles resulting in improved climbing efficiency, power and speed. The session will wrap with a bout of high cadence pedaling on the flats followed by an easy warm-down ride back to Northstar.
Ride route – ride from Northstar, through Truckee to Old Hwy 40, ascend the classic Donner Summit climb. Return back through Truckee to Northstar.
