Locals - Tahoe Rim Trail Runs Training Plan

Training Program Details

  • Complete 12 week training program, starting April 30
  • Two weekly group workouts, in the Tahoe Basin, starting in June
  • $325 program fee -increases to $355after April 25
  • Minimum fitness requirement: must be able to run 10 miles
  • Three training programs available: 50K, 50M and 100M
  • Training programs open to all, even those who missed the opportunity to run the TRT this year, who are seeking a science-based, structured, comprehensive training plan, supported by group workouts, and insights in to training for future Tahoe Rim trail races.

Training Program Participants Receive

  • Daily science-based, systematic progressive training program based on heart rate zones written by Julie Young**in consultation with Dr. Andy Pasternak, TRT Medical Director
  • Lactate Threshold test at Silver Sage Sports Performance Center, Reno NV to determine training zones
  • Expert coaching, advice and insights from TRT race veterans and Medical Director on how to successfully tackle the unique TRT characteristics from challenging trail sections to high altitude and cold temperatures
  • Training focuses on fine tuning TRT preparation over the last several months
  • One coached, week day evening group structured intensity workout including speed skills and intervals
  • One un-coached group weekend endurance run – route determined by the coach, consistent with training plan progression in regards to increased terrain and duration demands
  • Reno Running Company in-store discounts & specials throughout the program
  • Technical T-Shirt w/ custom Reno Running Company  logo
  • E-mail support to answer individual questions regarding training and running related issues
  • Weekly emails on nutrition, apparel, footwear, form, core work & stretching
  • Specific strength and core program designed to improve running efficiency training
