Training Program Details

  • Complete 8- week training program, starting July 2
  • $150 program fee -increases to $180 after June 27
  • Training plans available for the beginner to the racer gunning for a PR
  • Plans provide daily science-based, structured, comprehensive training
  • Training plans posted weekly on trainingpeaks.com and delivered daily via email

Training Program Participants Receive

  • Daily systematic progressive training program based on heart rate zones that balances scientific approach with Xterra race knowledge and experience
  • Daily instructions specify discipline, duration and intensity
  • Training focuses on fine tuning race preparation with emphasis on quality intensity and quality rest, and implementing effective taper strategies
  • Training plans designed by Julie Young. Young is the Head Coach of o2fitness and Director of Silver Sage Sports Performance Center. She is a 12-year US National Cycling and World Championship team member. Young’s resume includes wins at the Xterra Tahoe City and Xterra Lake Tahoe.
  • Lactate Threshold tests to determine heart rate zones, available to training plan participants at Silver Sage Sports Performance Center, Reno NV **
  • Expert coaching, advice, tactics and insights from Xterra race veteran to assist you successfully attack the unique Xterra Lake Tahoe characteristics from challenging trail sections to the effects of high altitude
  • Reno Running Company in-store 15% discounts through the duration of the program
  • Big Blue Adventure logo’d Technical T-Shirt  
  • E-mail support – the coach will answer individual questions regarding training and Xterra triathlon related issues
  • Weekly emails on nutrition, mechanics to improve efficiency, core stability and flexibility
